Built for explainable research
How RaRo works
Built by Tabitha Khadse as a data-engineering and front-end visualization project. The dashboard uses stored market snapshots so browser visitors never need an API key.
Is the market data live?
No. RaRo reads saved market JSON produced by a GitHub Actions pipeline. The dashboard displays the saved market date; it is not a real-time trading terminal.
How are market movers, breadth and dollar activity calculated?
Movers are ranked from saved 1-day and 1-week return fields. Sector breadth counts advancing and declining stocks with known sector classifications. Estimated dollar activity multiplies the saved closing price by share volume. Missing historical observations are not inferred.
Can I research a stock or buy directly from RaRo?
RaRo provides Google and Robinhood research links for the selected ticker. They open external sites; RaRo does not place trades.
How is the application engineered?
Vanilla JavaScript, responsive CSS and semantic HTML power the browser interface. GitHub Actions handles ingestion and validation, publishing static JSON to GitHub Pages. Watchlists and saved screener preferences stay in browser storage.
Deterministic system
Data plan
The system uses the Massive Stocks Starter plan: daily full-market aggregates, five-year historical backfill mode, reference metadata, technical indicators for selected tickers, compact summaries, and a browser-only dashboard that never exposes the API key.
Daily pull
GitHub Actions runs after market close and can also be started manually from the Actions tab.
Full-market coverage
The backend validates roughly 11,000+ U.S. stock rows before updating data/market-latest.json.
History engine
Recent snapshots stay in data/history/; five-year backfills are compressed and uploaded as workflow artifacts.
Reference + signals
Metadata, movers, rolling signals, and selected technical indicators are written into compact JSON summaries.
